On May 23, 2018 The Peekskill Westcop/Victim’s Assistance Services hosted the second annual painting event at The Peekskill Youth Bureau. The event was planned by Melissa Diodati, VAS Peekskill Site Director, assisted by Victim Advocate Sandra Soler-Cook, Therapist Gwen Blackett-Sullivan, and VAS Director Karel Amaranth .   The theme this year was celebrating the relationship between Mothers and Sons.  The Hudson Creamery provided art canvases, paint, and instruction to paint 2 canvases that came together as one with the caption “You are my Sunshine”.  The Hudson Creamery also provided delicious ice cream after the painting was completed. The participants took a break during painting to enjoy pizza and drinks. It appeared as though everyone enjoyed spending time together as well as creating a “masterpiece” together.  The event was supported by funding provided through a New York State Legislative Grant dedicated to Victims Assistance Services by Senator Terrence Murphy.
