WestCOP is excited to announce that its Early Childhood programs have reopened!

WestCOP closed its Head Start Centers on March 13, 2020, due to the outbreak of COVID19. Since then, WestCOP staff continued to provide services to families and their children. These services include food, homework assistance, and virtual learning experiences.

In line with the Governor’s regional phased reopening, WestCOP engaged in meticulous and deliberate reopening planning. This plan included a 4-week piloted reopening of one center, Mount Vernon CAG at the Doles Center. Based on this deliberate planning effort, WestCOP opened nine (9) centers on Monday, July 13, 2020.

The WestCOP reopening plan took into consideration the publicly available information from the CDC, state, and local municipalities and their relevant departments. Parents and program staff were also included in the development of this reopening plan. This reopening allows WestCOP to continue to offer comprehensive services to children and families, from high-quality preschool education, family goals setting, wellness, and developmental screenings, and much more.
