The Policy Council is elected by the parents of children who are currently enrolled in our Early Childhood programs. It is comprised of parents of children who are currently enrolled in our programs (a majority of the members of the policy council) as well as members at large of the community served by WestCOP, which may include parents of children who were formerly enrolled in the program.

The Policy Council works in partnership with key management staff and the governing body to develop, review, and approve or disapprove the program’s philosophy and long and short range program goals and objectives. Policy Council members are invited to participate in the annual self-assessment of our progress in carrying out the programmatic and fiscal intent of the grant application, including planning or other actions that may result from the review of the annual audit and findings from the Federal monitoring review.

The meetings are held monthly throughout the program year. Transportation, dinner, and babysitting are provided.
