SPECIAL ED TEACHER – FULL TIME – Granite Springs, NY

WestCOP Therapeutic Nursery School is looking for a warm and caring individual to join our team of professionals. Please be a team player, with a strong work ethic and the desire to make a difference in the lives of children and their families. 

  • Responsible for the creation and provision of the appropriate environment and experience to foster the physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth of preschool children with special needs.
  • Provide methods of behavior support and management that are individualized to meet the functional behavioral needs of each child.
  • Develop a curriculum that follows a normal developmental sequence, with adaptations to accommodate varied ability and functioning levels.
  • Monitor program activities and services frequently and make changes in programming as needed in accordance with children’s IEPs.
  • Work with related service staff to provide the appropriate service model to meet each child’s IEP goals and objectives.
  • Prepare progress reports for parent conferences and annual reviews.
  • Maintain confidentiality of students, parents, program, and all materials handled in the performance of duties and responsibilities.Other tasks as assigned

Education:

  • Master’s (Required)

License/Certification:

  • NYS Special Education Teacher Certification (Required)

ASSISTANT TEACHER – FULL TIME – Granite Springs, NY

  • Greet and interact with center children, families and staff in a warm and respectful manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Plan and deliver activities in accordance with the school’s curriculum and children’s individual educational plan.
  • Maintain children’s education files. Monitor and document children’s development.
  • Complete required OCFS training hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Employee Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma
  • Complete OCFS fingerprinting and background check

Certifications: NYS Level 1 Teacher Assistant certification

Nice to have:

  • Early Childhood Development Education
  • Bilingual (Spanish)

PRESCHOOL HEAD TEACHER – FULL TIME – Peekskill, NY

WestCOP Aunt Bessie’s Open Door is looking for a warm and caring individual to join our team of professionals. The ideal candidate will take pride in their environment and value the role that play has in a child’s overall development. 

Job Description:

  • Provide effective and nurturing teacher-child interactions, plan and implement learning experiences that ensure effective curriculum implementation and use of assessment; promote children’s progress across NYS standards.
  • Utilize Creative Curriculum and NYS Early Learning Guidelines.
  • Ensure the health and safety of children.
  • Create and maintain a developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Plan and execute activities in accordance with curriculum guides.
  • Maintain children’s education files.
  • Monitor and document children’s development.
  • Communicate with parents, including, but not limited to, parent-teacher conferences, class newsletters and home visits.
  • Supervise Assistant Teachers.
  • Collaborate with Directors.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Employee Requirements:

  • M.S. Ed and Birth-2 Certification or within 2 yrs of hire.
  • Bilingual (Eng./Spanish) preferred
  • Minimum requirement is BS Early Childhood while obtaining MS Early Childhood
